Calls may not always be answered while work is in progress, so the form or WhatsApp is best for an initial enquiry.

Your details will only be used to respond to your enquiry and manage any agreed work. Please read the privacy policy.

Include the make and model if known, whether the appliance is already at the property, and anything you know about how the current cooker, oven or hob is connected. It is fine to write “not sure”.

If photos are requested

We may ask you to send clear photos of:

  • The appliance rating plate, usually found on the back, side or inside the door.
  • The existing cooker connection point, outlet plate or socket.
  • The cooker control switch or local isolator.
  • The consumer unit or fuse box, including the circuit labels where possible.

Please include the appliance make and model where available.

Photos help with estimating, but final suitability can only be confirmed through inspection and testing at the property.

Checks carried out before connection

Before connecting the appliance, we will check that it can be safely supplied by the existing electrical installation.

  • Check the existing connection point, nearby isolation switch and accessible wiring.
  • Check that the circuit, protective device, earthing and connection arrangement are suitable for the appliance.
  • Confirm that the appliance can be safely isolated.
  • Carry out appropriate electrical testing before and after connection.
  • Safely connect or disconnect the appliance.

If a problem is found

The appliance will not be connected if the existing circuit or connection arrangement is unsafe or unsuitable. Harry will explain the problem and what needs to be done before the connection can proceed.

Service limits

These checks relate to the proposed appliance connection. They are not a full inspection of the property’s electrical installation.

Connection work is carried out in accordance with the current edition of BS 7671. Appropriate electrical certification will be provided where required.

New circuits, consumer-unit alterations and other notifiable electrical work are not included in the standard connection service. If this type of work is needed, the available next steps will be explained before anything proceeds.

Common questions

Do I need to supply the cooker cable?

Some appliances are supplied without a suitable connection cable. We will assess what is likely to be needed from the appliance details and photos you provide.

Can you connect an induction hob?

In many cases, yes. Induction hobs can require a high electrical load, so the existing circuit and connection arrangement must be suitable.

Do you install gas cookers?

No. Cooker Connect Cornwall only works on electric cookers, ovens and hobs. Gas work must be carried out by a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
